Swimmers Swim to 21 Islands Named after PVC Awardees as part of Expedition Paramvir

Port Blair, May 3: The Indian Armed Forces, known for their tradition of fostering adventure, have embarked on a historic swimming expedition in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This daring endeavour, which involves swimming to all 21 islands named after Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardees, was initiated to pay tribute to the bravehearts who have made supreme sacrifices for the nation.

Port Blair, May 3: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to construct a new dam over Katla Nallah of Middle Andaman to solve the water crisis of Kadamtala and nearby regions of Middle Andaman.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament mentioned that many areas of Kadamtala and Uttara are facing severe water scarcity, with water being supplied only once a week. This situation has become a heavy burden for the people living in the affected areas.

Port Blair, May 3: The Andaman Avians Club is thrilled to announce the successful completion of Hello Birding Chapter 5 (Summer) events held in Port Blair and Campbell Bay on April 27th and 28th, 2024. These two-day programs aimed to educate children about bird identification techniques, conservation ethics, and the importance of avian biodiversity.

Young participants from across the Andaman Islands gathered to embark on an immersive journey into the world of birds. In Port Blair, a total of 21 children enthusiastically participated, while 45 students attended the event in Campbell Bay, showcasing a keen interest in learning about birds and their conservation. Under the guidance of experienced citizen scientists and environmental educators, they learned to identify various bird species, appreciate their unique characteristics, and understand the significance of preserving their habitats.

Port Blair, May 3: The Andaman Nicobar Cricket Association (ANCA) is thrilled to announce the selection of its esteemed member and ex-Secretary, Hemchandran Nair (popularly known as Chandran), to lead Team India in the upcoming Cricket World Cup for players above 70!

Chandran, a retired employee of the Electricity Department currently residing in Kerala, will be showcasing his cricketing prowess on the international stage. The tournament will be held in the United Kingdom from 28th July to 11th August 2024, with teams from India, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, England, Canada, and Wales vying for the coveted title.

Port Blair, May 3: In a concerted effort to address the pressing issue of noise pollution& traffic congestion arising due to upcoming marriage season, a pivotal meeting was convened on 03/05/2024 with leading light and sound dealers. Hosted under the chairmanship of Shri Ajay Kumar Rai, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Traffic, DANIPS and attended by the Station House Officer of PS Aberdeen, the session aimed to foster collaboration and outline crucial guidelines to minimize noise disturbance & traffic congestion during wedding ceremonies and processions.
